Brad Ring WineMaker Magazine

Brad Ring, Publisher of  WineMaker Magazine, personally invites you to join him on this exclusive wine adventure.

Bordeaux – one of France’s most iconic wine regions filled to the brim with impeccable wines, delectable cuisine, and revered architecture. It is the birthplace of the first known Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines and stretches from Soulac-sur-Mer and the Médoc in the north to the vineyards of Graves and Cerons in the south.

Imagine wandering through sun-washed vineyards in Saint-Émilion, tasting Cab Sauv and Merlot where they were first born; slipping into ancient wine caves stocked with extraordinary bottles and perfectly aged cheeses; meeting with expert winemakers; savoring oysters from the oyster capital of France, Arcachon Bay; and exploring châteaux that feel more like living works of art than wineries.

This is Bordeaux as it’s meant to be experienced—unhurried, up close, and guided by people who know how to unlock the stories inside every glass. By the time you return home, you’ll have a true sense of place… and a deeper appreciation for one of the greatest wine regions on earth.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to the wine capital of France! We will meet you in the lobby of our hotel at 10:00 AM for a quick introduction before heading to Bordeaux’s world-class interactive wine museum, La Cité du Vin. A fun way to start the trip, and learn about the world of wine – from history, viticulture, producers, and Bordeaux’s regions. The museum is visually and architecturally spectacular both inside and out – the building itself is built to resemble “the swirls in a wine glass”! It offers hands-on, hi-tech exhibits where you are encouraged to use all five of your senses. We will dine there for lunch, looking out over the city of Bordeaux, and to top things off, we’ll have a wine tasting workshop focused on introducing you to the wine regions of Bordeaux we’ll be visiting later on this trip.

After we’ve soaked up some local wine region knowledge, we’ll head back to our hotel and officially check in and unpack. Dinner tonight will be at La Brasserie Bordelaise for a classic Sud-Ouest (South West France) meal.

Meals Included: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2

After breakfast, we’ll depart Bordeaux for the legendary Médoc region on the Left Bank, home to some of the most prestigious wines in the world.

Our morning brings us to Château Phélan-Ségur, a beautifully restored estate overlooking the Gironde Estuary. Here, we’ll enjoy a tailored private visit that goes beyond the typical tasting, culminating in a vertical tasting that offers a rare opportunity to explore multiple vintages side by side.

From there, we’ll continue to La Maison d’Estournel for a leisurely lunch. Set within one of the Médoc’s most elegant properties, we will dine on traditional, refined French cuisine. After, we’ll set off for an exquisite tasting at Chateau Lynch-Bages.

We’ll then return to Bordeaux where you’ll have time to relax and explore on your own.  That evening, we’ll reconvene in our hotel’s lobby and walk to Baud et Millet for dinner – a cheese lover’s paradise!  They have their own cheese-aging cave where you can go in and help yourself to over 100 different cheeses from all over France.  You also have the opportunity to pair regional wines with the cheese of your choice. C’est magnifique!

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3

Yesterday we explored the Left Bank of Bordeaux, today we’ll explore the Right Bank! We begin our day with a tour and tasting at Chateau Figeac, one of the most prestigious estates in the appellation. It’s ranked as a Premier Grand Cru Classé “A” which is the highest, most prestigious tier in the Saint-Émilion wine classification recognized for outstanding quality, reputation, and terroir.

Once we’ve enjoyed our tour and tasting, we’ll depart for the village of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the celebrated center of Left Bank wine production. This picturesque village dates back to ancient times with its unique Romanesque architecture and ruins scattered amongst the narrow and steep streets. You will have free time to explore and grab lunch on your own at one of the many quaint cafes.

In the late afternoon, we’ll head to Château La Dominique, situated on the border of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Here we’ll enjoy a private tour and tasting before dining at their restaurant with sweeping panoramic view.

Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner

Day 4

Today, we explore the famous wine regions of Graves and Sauternes. We start at Château Haut Bailly, a Cru Classé Graves set in a gorgeous 19th-century château. We’ll have a special private visit to discover the secrets of their grand cru and a tasting of three wines, including an older vintage. We’ll also visit their modern winery using huge concrete fermenters underground.

After, we set off for Sauternes and stop for a hearty lunch along the way at an adorably cozy restaurant where meals are cooked over an open fire made with pruned grape vine wood.

We then continue on our way to the stunning estate of Château Suduiraut, neighboring the legendary Château d’Yquem. Just like their famous neighbor this winery specializes in making complex dessert wines from botrytized Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The Chateau’s gardens were designed by Le Nôtre who designed gardens for Louis XIV. After our exploration of the estate, we will have a vertical tasting.

You will then return for a free evening in Bordeaux to further explore the city of Bordeaux and have dinner on your own.

Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 5

This morning, we’ll trade vineyards for sea air as we depart Bordeaux for the charming peninsula of Cap Ferret and Arcachon Bay. Cap Ferret is a skinny, 11-mile-long line of sand bordered to the east by the waters of Arcachon Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the west – a perfect oyster haven.

We’ll visit a local oyster farm for an inside look at the region’s famed oyster cultivation. You’ll learn how these prized delicacies are grown, harvested, and enjoyed (often just moments after leaving the water!).

After, we’ll settle in for a relaxed, group lunch at a rustic oyster shack, featuring freshly shucked oysters, pâté, crusty bread, and crisp local wines. It’s casual, delicious, and quintessentially French—best enjoyed with your hands, a squeeze of lemon, and a glass of white wine overlooking the bay.

In the afternoon, we’ll return inland to the Pessac-Léognan wine region for a visit to Château de Rouillac, which has roots that date back to 1864 and the King of France. Here will partake in a vertical tasting, trying 3 vintages of their grand vin Château de Rouillac, and 2 vintages of the cuvée Dada de Rouillac.

Back in Bordeaux, the day continues with a hands-on cooking class where we’ll prepare tonight’s dinner together and share lots of smiles and laughter with new friends!

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6

This morning, we’ll depart Bordeaux for the rolling hills of the Entre-Deux-Mers region—literally “between two seas,” referring to the Garonne and Dordogne rivers that shape this lush, often under-the-radar corner of Bordeaux.

Our first stop is Château de Reignac for their unique “Hedonist” experience. This immersive, behind-the-scenes visit blends tradition with innovation. The wine tasting takes place in an unique tasting tower, an ancient pigeon house from the XVI century. You will have the opportunity to taste three wines : the REIGNAC White, the Château de REIGNAC and the Grand Vin de REIGNAC.

We’ll then make our way back toward Bordeaux for lunch at Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion to enjoy some sharing boards in their serene vineyard. In the afternoon, we continue to our final winery visit at a family vineyard, Château de Fieuzal, for a signature private tour and tasting guided of the entire range.

We’ll return to Bordeaux in the late afternoon and gather in the evening one last time for a memorable farewell dinner at Blind. It’s the perfect setting to reflect on the week, raising a final glass to incredible wines, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. Cheers!

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

2026 Traveler

Loved traveling the countryside and getting to experience a wine making experience rather than just a tasting. Excellent trip, so glad we came!!

Kevin F.

My favorite moments were the opportunity to meet new folks that I now call friends! The vacation itself was first class all the way, from bus drivers and guides to winery visits, the food, great conversation, a peppy pace, and beautiful destinations and accommodations.
