Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Chile! We’ll meet in Chile’s capital, Santiago, in the morning. After a brief orientation, we begin our travels south, ultimately arriving in the town of Santa Cruz at the end of the day. Along the way, we will visit Antiyal, a boutique winery and one of the first wineries to explore biodynamics and low-intervention winemaking in South America.

Next, we’ll enjoy a tasting and lunch at the 100% family-owned Casa Silva estate. Here, you will have your first views of the most highly decorated wine valley in Chile — the Colchagua Valley — also known as the “Napa” of Chile. Additionally, we’ll be treated to views of the surrounding Andes Mountains, the vineyards, and the estate’s polo field!

After checking into our hotel, we will head to a lovely al fresco welcome dinner at MontGras Winery for a traditional Chilean BBQ.

Meals: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2

After breakfast, we’ll depart for a tasting at Viña Montes, a pioneer of premium Chilean wines known for structured Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and their acclaimed Purple Angel blend. We’ll tour the gravity-flow winery, often accompanied by Gregorian chants playing softly in the barrel room.

Late morning, we’ll continue to Clos Apalta for a guided tour and tasting followed by a leisurely winery lunch overlooking the vineyards. All their dishes are based around the land and the natural flavors of Chile. You’ll be able to taste the fresh vegetables and herbs from their house vegetable garden!

The afternoon is yours to unwind back at Cava Colchagua. You might relax by the pool or explore the property with a glass of wine in hand.

In the evening, we’ll regroup for a hands-on cooking class at the Food & Wine Studio at Viu Manent with Chef Pilar Rodriguez. Together, we’ll prepare regional dishes paired with estate wines, ending the day immersed in Chilean flavors.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 3

After breakfast, we drive north from Santa Cruz, toward the cooler Casablanca Valley, several hours to the northwest. This stretch of land, closer to the coast, has become Chile’s top white wine region.

Our first stop is Attilio & Mochi for a private tour and tasting with the winemaker. This boutique winery, founded by a Brazilian couple, Marcos Attilio and Angela Mochi, focuses on small-lot production, often highlighting varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit Kingston Family Vineyards for a private tour and five-course, wine-paired culinary experience crafted with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients overlooking the Andes.

After lunch, we’ll continue to Viña del Mar and check into the Pullman San Martín. The evening is yours to explore the coastal city and enjoy dinner on your own. You might even opt for takeout and dinner on the beach!

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 4

After a morning near the ocean, we move to our final (and prettiest, we think!) wine valley visit in Chile: the Aconcagua, at the foothills of the Andes.

Once we arrive, our first stop will be a visit to Viña San Esteban for a guided tour of their modern winery and vineyards, where elevation and mountain runoff play a key role in vine health. A tour and tasting will be followed by lunch overlooking the vines and mountains.

After a long day on the bus (about 2 hours), we’ll check into our hotel and settle in, not too much though, tomorrow we fly to Argentina!

In the evening, we’ll head to Flaherty Wines, a small, boutique winery founded by an American-Chilean winemaking team. Dinner will include a home-style meal and plenty of laughs as we celebrate our time in Chile.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5

After breakfast, we’ll depart Los Andes for Santiago to catch our flight over the Andes Mountains to Argentina. (This flight is estimated to cost $400 — we will purchase this for you and include this cost in your invoice). From the plane, we just might see the impressive Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas!

We’ll land in the city of Mendoza, which is surrounded by hundreds of wineries and includes three wine areas: the Maipu, Lujan de Cuyo, and the Uco Valley, home to the highest-altitude vineyards in the province. We’ll depart directly for the stunning Uco Valley with the massive dormant volcano Tupungato staring down at us! Our first stop is Bodega Huentala for a relaxing, elegant lunch together before heading to our home for the next two nights.

To give you a chance to unwind, we’ll have dinner a few steps from your room at the wonderful hotel restaurant.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 6

After breakfast, we’ll depart for a guided tour and tasting at Salentein, one of the pioneers of high-altitude winemaking in Mendoza. Situated between 3,000–4,000 feet above sea level, this cross-shaped building was made as a tribute to the Jesuit missionaries who settled here in the 16th century. The shape also allows for careful management of the grape and the wine, ensuring that both spend very little time in transit throughout the winemaking process.

Lunch will be a fun one. We’ll enjoy a hands-on cooking class focused on traditional Argentine techniques and ingredients, think empanadas, grilled meats, chimichurri, and seasonal produce, paired with regional wines (of course!)

In the evening, we’ll head to Andeluna for dinner, where estate-grown Malbec and Cabernet Franc are matched with refined Argentine cuisine, all set against sweeping Andes views. We promise you won’t get tired of the spectacular views.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7

After breakfast and check-out, we’ll depart the Uco Valley for a morning visit to Bodega Monteviejo, located in the prestigious Clos de los Siete enclave. If you’re a fan of French wines, you’ll love this stop and blend of Argentine character reflected in their French wines. We’ll take a tour of the property before tasting wines created by head winemaker Jose Mounier.

We’ll then continue to Claroscuro for a tour and a relaxed multi-course winery lunch. As a boutique producer, Claroscuro’s founders and creative team integrate visual art deeply into the brand identity, as clearly shown on the wine labels.

After lunch, we’ll transfer to Mendoza and check into our final hotel, located in the center of town. The evening is yours to explore Mendoza’s vibrant dining scene and enjoy dinner on your own.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

Day 8

Our final full day together will start after a relaxed morning and breakfast. After, we’ll visit a family-run favorite, Hacienda del Plata, for a tasting of their wines harvested from shallow alluvial soils and high cliffs that favor Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting will be followed by lunch of elegant home-cooked meats and veggies set amongst the trees in the garden.

After a relaxing lunch, we’ll head back to Mendoza for free time to explore on your own. Maybe you’d like to stroll the plazas, visit local wine shops, or relax at the hotel; the afternoon is yours!

In the evening, we’ll gather for a festive farewell dinner at Rincón del Malbec, hosted by Brad’s friend Luis. It’s time to share your favorite wine adventures and stories over a glass of your most loved varietal(s), a wonderful meal, and great company!

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9

After a restful last night in the hotel, we will say our goodbyes on this final day of our wine adventure. You’re then free to depart for the airport or continue on to your own South American wine journey!

Meals: Breakfast

Everything exceeded our expectations--from the guides to the lodging to the wine experience and the meals!

Diana L.

I was concerned about the limitations of being on a guided tour as well as having to spend the entire time with a group of strangers. What I found was that the tours were extremely well planned and the accommodations, meals, wine tastings, and activities were perfect! And at the end of the trip, the people that began the tour not knowing each other, parted as a group of forever friends planning another adventure together with Taste Vacations.

Arrival & Departure

We meet you in Santiago, Chile (SCL) on the first morning of the trip, at a hotel in the Providencia neighborhood. We suggest arriving at least a day ahead of time to recover from long flight, allow for any travel delays, and explore Santiago on your own since we don’t spend any time there during the trip.

On the last day, we will end in Mendoza, Argentina. You should make your return flights out of Mendoza (MDZ). The Mendoza airport has direct flights to Santiago, Buenos Aires, and several smaller Argentinean cities.
