We are excited to announce the newest addition to the Taste Vacations team! Meet Sarah Wohlner, our new marketing and tour operations lead. But she’s no stranger to the Zephyr United world as Sarah joins us from the other business unit in our company, Zephyr Conferences. We think you’ll love Sarah’s passion for travel, calm energy, and attention to detail. Want to know more? Check out the short interview below:
What’s your favorite meal you’ve had while traveling?
It’s so hard to pick! One of my most favorite was a dish I had while on a street food tour in Myanmar. It was spicy rice noodles with tomato paste and peanuts. I couldn’t remember the name of the dish or really anything else about it at the time, which is surprising because I love to dissect food so I can potentially recreate it at home. I just remember it had the perfect amount of spice and the noodles were chewy and extremely fresh. I later discovered it was Shan Noodles. I’ve never had anything like it. Plus, the people I was with and the environment (sitting on plastic stools in the middle of the street) was amazing which makes the food experience that much better.
What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Another hard one to answer! Like most, I go through phases of things I crave. Right now, I’m loving all Japanese and Vietnamese food.
What’s your background?
While attending Leads School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder I started a marketing internship with Zephyr Conferences, the cousin company to Taste Vacations, which runs food, wine, and beer conferences across the United States and abroad. When I graduated I started working full time. Due to the pandemic, we suspended the conferences and saw there was an opportunity for me to join the tour side in the same food, wine, and beer industry. Travel and food have always been a passion of mine so, of course, I jumped at the opportunity!
In my free time, I create food and travel videos for Instagram (@_recipes_) and TikTok (@tasteandtraveler). It’s a fantastic hobby that has pushed me to explore new countries and cuisines. It has also given me the opportunity to meet people from all around the world and share stories and recipes.
What are you looking forward to most in this new role?
I’m thrilled to be a part of the Taste Vacations team and be able to create trips and memorable experiences for others. It’s similar to the reason I love to cook for others, having them enjoy something I created is gratifying.
Where are you looking forward to traveling to next?
My next trip abroad will be in September to Lombardy, Italy to explore the wine region, and right after I will help guide the Mindi Abair’s Wine & Jazz Spain Adventure in October. Lucky me!
Welcome to the Taste Vacations team, Sarah!
